MIXED MATERIALS AND LAUREN WINTER Ss15
SOMETIME LAST SEPTEMBER, I STARTED making necklaces out of polymer clay and leather cord. I'd seen them before-- a lot of my friends had some or made them too-- and I decided to try and make them for myself. At first, I would just do it to make pretty things to wear for my own pleasure (teaching my nieces how to make them as well), and then realized that I'd love to take it the next step and make them available for purchase at an affordable price. I'm venturing out into mixed materials outside of clay and leather (copper, gold chains, tassels), and I love the effect of putting them all together, like little mixed media art pieces. So now I have a few different designs up for sale in the SHOP section of my site. I also do custom orders if you have a certain color scheme in mind! I'll be offering bracelets soon as well, hopefully.
I'd love to have my pieces available in shops all over the place eventually, too. Currently, I'm planning on selling them at an actual shop location soon-- I'll be opening it up at a shared space in Redlands in the coming weeks. More on that soon to follow! It's a really exciting venture, and I can't wait to tell you all about it!
To accompany this post, I'm offering a 15% discount today 3/23 to Friday 3/27 with the code 'MIXEDMEDIA' at checkout. Hope you like them!
The beautiful clothing you see paired with my pieces are by Lauren Winter. If you're a longterm reader of my blog, you know how much I love her designs. This collection, I think, might be my very favorite. I think spring is one of the best seasons for fashion-- the lightweight linens, pale color palettes and effortless ensembles are right up my alley. Lauren is so smart when it comes to making artful creations that are also super wearable, all in my favorite color combinations. I could live in her designs! My favorites are everything in the Shapes print, especially this top, the Hourglass top, and the Swing dress. Everything, really. SO hard to choose!
