AS I'M WRITING this, I'm sitting downstairs in the public library partaking in some free literature and air-conditioning. The heat is so unbearable, it's above 90 degrees before 10am. I can't wait for fall to come. It's my favorite season in pretty much every way-- food, fashion, nature, everything.
A while back, I had meant to put up the DIY of my thank you notes for my wedding but, as usual, I procrastinated. {All I had at my disposal at the time was my camera phone, too.} Anyway, I used a DIY from Etsy that you can find here. All of the instructions can be found there. I bought some vintage patterned fabrics from thrift stores and used leftover kraft envelopes from my wedding invitations. The adhesive spray is messy but it turns out so neat and pretty, I think it's definitely worth it.
We-- J helped!-- typed out our notes on my typewriter and enclosed copies of polaroids that my sister Maya took during our wedding photo session. So much of the wedding was done ourselves so it seemed fitting to make the thank you notes ourselves too. It was a lengthy process and we didn't do it for every single guest. For about half of them, we gave premade-- but still cute-- cards. There weren't too too many guests since our wedding was on the intimate side, but it is messy and time consuming and it was during master's thesis/credential crunch time for me and J. I think I'll be using this DIY a lot, though, for special occasions when I think someone is worthy of receiving an extra special letter.
On an unrelated note, did anyone else catch the Perseid meteor shower this year? I try to make it a point to see some of those shooting stars every year, and a couple of years in a row I went to Joshua Tree around 3am in the morning to witness bits of space flying across the sky. The first time I saw it, I went with my friend, Ashley, and the sky was full of streaks all at once, but every other time after that has kind of been a dud. This year, J and I went to his mom's. She's got a giant and dark backyard and you can really see the stars, but we only saw a dozen or so meteors-- just a handful of which were pretty sizeable. Maybe next year. . .
Lastly, be on the lookout for two pretty great giveaways! ♢
