LA DAY
I have to admit that I am very impatient with Los Angeles. I'm not a fan of driving there, and I'm also really uncomfortable with so many people around (so I definitely am NOT made for downtown LA). But there are always exceptions, right? I'm completely in love with the whole Atwater scene, of course, thanks to gems like Individual Medley and Proof Bakery. I've already been there about three times this year alone. This Sunday was my second time visiting the LA Chapter of the Ace Hotel, and while both my visits were very brief, I'm sort of getting charmed by it. It was super crowded though, and so Kaity and I didn't stay as long as we'd hoped.
Our initial purpose for going out to LA was to scout some photo locations-- and maybe take a few pictures-- for a project we're working on, but we got sidetracked by a stop in Pasadena for juice at Juice Served Here, and The Loved One, and Mohawk General Store. Pasadena is really more my speed, and it's close enough to LA for when I'm up for all the traffic and bustle and crowds. THEN, we ended up walking through the Hashimoto Gas Giant exhibit at the Pacific Design Center. If you're in the area, I highly suggest checking it out. The exhibit just opened up this month, so it'll be around for a while. I'm very much into all the Japanese influence that's taking over right now. Which leads me to...
...my brand new kimono from the lovely and talented Hackwith Design House. I can't get over it; it's so so beautiful and the fabric is so luxurious-- I miss it when I take it off. It's such a great investment piece, and it's also my big splurge since I started my second professorship. The day was pretty and a little brisk, so it was the perfect layering piece over my crop top and jeans. We stuck around the Ace (and the parking lot) long enough for Kaity to snap some beautiful outfit detail shots. She's super talented! I'm excited to work with her on this upcoming project. Hopefully it'll bring good things that I can share here later!
