THREE YEARS WITH A GOON
THIS PAST WEEKEND, J AND I celebrated our three-year anniversary. We were married on St. Patrick's Day at Heritage Square Museum in Highland Park with a small group of friends and family to share the celebration outdoors under a beautiful pocket of overcast sky. It was an absolutely perfect day even though it started pouring rain halfway through the reception. We had bbq and donuts and our roommate's band played, and I sang some songs for J and we danced to Ryan Adams with the rain coming down over our heads and drank delicious wine we'd bottled ourselves. Perfect.
For our anniversary, we went to the beautiful Alamo Motel in Los Alamos near Santa Barbara. We had a restful stay, walking around, eating the most amazing food, and walking along the sand dunes by the beach. The dunes were sectioned off a bit though because the little snow plovers were nesting, so we want to go back and fully explore the dunes. (Be on the lookout for a full post on the Alamo Motel soon.)
Then we had hoped to go into LA on our way back home and stop by Heritage Square to take a photo where we got married but it was closed. So instead we settled for ramen at Silverlake Ramen, picking up Tobias Jesso Jr.'s album Goon at the Amoeba Records that we went to on our first date (which consisted of Jack in the Box, watching poet Derrick Brown, and perusing records at Amoeba), and eating pie at the Pie Hole. Here's to three more, thirty more, forever more.
